Janamini Oram is a 19-year-old girl from the village of Baidamupali in Sambalpur district. She comes from a family of five, where she is the eldest child. Her father runs a small business, and her mother is a homemaker. With a limited monthly income, her family struggles to meet basic needs, which prevented Janamini from continuing her education. As a result, she spent most of her time at home, helping her younger brother with his studies.

One day, Janamini learned about the Don Bosco Tech Skill Development Training Program through a mobilization activity. She discussed the training with one of the trainers and decided to join the Skills to Succeed 2024-25 programs. The opportunity allowed her to stay at home while learning valuable skills to start farming with her mother's help.

During her 75-days of training, Janamini acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in mushroom cultivation. She learned about different types of mushrooms, how to prepare the substrate, and how to control the environment for optimal growth. After completing the training, she began cultivating mushrooms and initially earned Rs. 600 from two beds. Janamini faced many challenges in the early days of her mushroom farm. She struggled to control pests and diseases, and she had to deal with the frustration of crop failures. Slowly but surely, Janamini's mushroom farm began to flourish. She started to produce high-quality mushrooms, and she was able to sell them to local restaurants and markets.

This success has made Janamini self-sufficient and confident, and she is now earning more than a thousand rupees per month. Her parents are very proud of her achievements. She now dreams of becoming a leading mushroom farmer and providing employment to rural youth in her community.
